Meet Victoria Torii Ashipala

Victoria Torii Ashipala is a self taught Namibian photographer born on the 17th day of January, 1991 best known for her fashion, conceptual portrait, and wedding photography. She has worked in close collaboration with many talented artists, designers, models, stylist and companies including international eyewear company Torga Optical. In 2011, at age 20, she was listed as one of the ’21 Mover’s and Shakers’ of Namibia in an article published by Insight Magazine. Victoria has also been featured in multiple articles local and online and won an award at the Sanlam Childart Competition in 2006.

Victoria had a great interest in the arts from a young age and took up drawing, ballet, graphics and sewing before 14. At 17, after being inspired by several artists on the internet, she started creating graphics and editing photos using Adobe Photoshop and developed an interest in photography. She received her first camera as a gift from her father at 18, as her love and curiosity for pictures grew, her passion drove her to experiment and perfect her new found trade. What started off as photographing friends and family for fun quickly grew into a bustling business as she gained quick popularity in her community due to her unique style.

Victoria currently lives in Windhoek Namibia where she frequently photographs families, weddings, agency represented models and ad campaigns for companies. At the moment she is studying Media and Advertising as well as Marketing at the University of Namibia and the University of South Africa respectively.
